In the summer of 2007, the Franciscan Institute sponsored the Seventh National Franciscan Forum on the theme, Daring to Embrace the Other: Franciscans and Muslims in Dialogue. This was an important, if not historic event in the life of the Franciscan Family in North America, especially given the context in which the gathering was held: almost six years after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and four years after the American invasion of the country of Iraq.This Forum offered its participants four scholarly papers and two contemproary reflections on how to approach this particular form of inter-faith dialogue in our time.
