- Anthony of Padua, Sermones for the Easter Cycle
Description:
This book contains the first English-language translation of Anthony's Sermones Dominicales for the Easter cycle. The translation, part two of this book, is preceded in part one by an important introduction which gives a factual chronology of Anthony's life, situates Anthony's preaching within the preaching ministry of the Church and the Order in medieval times, and explains the origin, function and structure of the Sermones which were written as a source book for the friar-preachers that would aid them in furthering the pastoral vision laid out by Lateran IV. The Sermones contained material which aided the friars in preparing pastorally effective sermons. They offer a vision of the ministry of preaching and evangelization as it existed in the first years of the Franciscan movement.
